We have been conducting detailed rewards, operations and billing surveys in key legal jurisdictions around the world for more than 20 years.
The reports resulting from our surveys contain aggregated data on salaries, bonuses, benefits and hourly billing rates for all levels of fee-earner and the full range of legal business services staff.
The data is accompanied by editorial analysis of subjects such as legal market conditions, law firm operations, compensation, recruitment and billing realisation.

Within the reports, for the purpose of comparative data analysis, firms are split into classification groups such as US, UK, domestic and European.

In order to gather the information for our reports, we survey major international law firms and leading local law firms.
Since a great deal of the data provided is highly sensitive, we guarantee all our participant law firms complete anonymity and provide confidentiality agreements to reassure them that their data is in the safest of hands.
As an incentive to take part in our research surveys, we offer participating law firms substantial discounts on the price of associated reports (usually between 40% and 50%). We also offer substantial additional discounts for subscription packages covering multiple jurisdictions.

If you would like to get your law firm involved (and in order to qualify for our discounts), then please contact us .
Aside from helping to provide a more accurate picture of your local legal market, your law firm will be eligible to obtain the associated report at a substantially discounted price (usually between 40% and 50% off the list price). Reports are typically published around one month after the associated survey has been completed. Our reports are provided in PDF format, with key data tables also provided in Excel format. Both can be distributed within your law firm as needed.
If you are part of a large international law firm network, then your law firm will most likely have cooperated with us on previous surveys in some jurisdictions. To find out whether your law firm has any history of survey participation, please contact us and we will confirm as soon as possible.
Participation involves completion of a confidential survey workbook. Where possible, we also like to conduct a short supporting interview, which typically lasts 20 to 30 minutes. Any information submitted for our surveys remains confidential. Our research is fully independent and documents assuring data confidentiality and anonymity are provided to all participants.
Naturally, we understand how sensitive this information can be and we have over 20 years’ experience in handling such delicate data. Any survey data that you choose to provide will remain entirely anonymous and confidential, and will be used solely to calculate market averages, quartiles and ranges for the associated report. Your law firm’s participation will remain entirely confidential. Formal agreements such as this are always issued to all respondents. Naturally, the more participants that there are for any survey, the more accurate the resulting market data will be. So, if you are planning on purchasing a report, not only will you qualify for a substantial discount by taking part in the associated survey, but you will also be helping to create a better and more accurate product for your law firm in the process.
We survey only recognised international law firms and leading local law firms in each jurisdiction. Since a great deal of the data that law firms provide to us is highly sensitive, we guarantee all our participants anonymity and provide confidentiality agreements to reassure participants that their data is in the safest of hands. Within the reports, for the purposes of comparative data analysis, we split the survey data from participating law firms into sub-groups such as US, UK, UK mid-market, UK upper-market, US mid-market, US upper-market, international, domestic and European, as well as comparing all law firms together.
In most of the jurisdictions we cover, the surveys are conducted annually. This means that we are able to compare data against previous results and flag up any anomalies to query with participants. We maintain a close relationship with our survey participants and conduct supporting interviews that provide us with an opportunity to discuss data in-depth and investigate any apparent discrepancies. Since the survey participants’ identities remain confidential, there is no reason for law firms to exaggerate their figures.
Research surveys for the various jurisdictions we cover take place on a rolling schedule throughout the year. Although we will usually try to contact all major law firms in a given jurisdiction when we are conducting a survey, we cannot always be sure we have the best contacts in place. To find out when the next survey for your jurisdiction is due, or to see a full schedule for all our upcoming surveys, please contact us .
You can view a generic version of how we represent some of the data here. If you would like to see an old example of a complete report for your jurisdiction, please contact us.
